Engineering and Product Development Intern
About Position
The Engineering and Product Development Associate will work primarily in Solidworks to create drawings and documents for greenhouse engineering and design efforts. Along with focusing in Solidworks you will be brought on to additional design and product development projects. You will quickly become an expert on ArchSolar greenhouses and will be encouraged to work independently to support the company’s mission.
The ideal candidate for the Engineering and Product Development Associate position will be an innovative thinker ready to problem solve and be flexible in any situation. They will be comfortable communicating in a small internal team and with clients directly. We are looking for someone ready to jump in where they have expertise and also challenge themselves to work through the unfamiliar. Comfort in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment is a must.
ArchSolar is a small company juggling many projects and our team is excited to bring on talented and enthusiastic individuals with applicable experience and a willingness to learn new skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the product team in the generation of 3D digital greenhouse models for sales and product development
Create standardized bid proposals for a range of greenhouse types and footprints to streamline the sales process
Conduct research and product development for components and systems
Become knowledgeable about ArchSolar greenhouses in order to support the sales and marketing team
Contribute to streamlining the manufacturing to delivery workflow
Assist with new product development, creating new preliminary SolidWorks designs
Create SolidWorks (2D & 3D) models from professional engineering and manufactured drawings
Create SolidWorks-generated bill of materials for client projects
Additional Opportunities
Learn about and participate in the sales and marketing side of the business, including sitting in on client meetings, brainstorm improved methods, and assist in the establishment of internal tools
Make lasting connections within the industry
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Currently finishing or has completed a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, product design, or related field.
Experience with CAD and SolidWorks
Able to work independently and solve problems with minimum technical supervision
Takes pride in their work, and operates with a task and detail oriented style
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Thermodynamic engineering experience a plus
An interest in sustainable agriculture and agricultural technology industries
Additional Experience a Plus
Some fluency in or understanding of the Chinese language.
Hours: To be determined, based on availability and experience
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
